Development on the next stage of Townside improvements and Poole bridge maintenance works means that some roads will be closing at the end of this month.

Between 6am on Monday 23 March and 6pm on Sunday 29 March, a series of phased road closures will be carried out in Poole.

The closures have been timed to coincide with annual maintenance on Poole Bridge, which will be closed from 6am on Monday 23 March until 6am on Monday 30 March.

During this period, West Street and West Quay Road will be closed between Bay Hog Lane and Poole Bridge.

Road users travelling between Poole and Hamworthy will be redirected via Twin Sails Bridge, which will be operating on a revised lifting schedule with fewer lifts taking place during the day.

Pedestrians and cyclists will still have access over Poole Bridge and the Townside area.

The work is part of the final phase of the Townside and Hunger Hills area Improvements Scheme, which aims to deliver improved links for pedestrians, cyclists and other road users.

A BCP Council spokesperson, said: “Once completed this will further contribute towards enhancing connectivity to the town centre, improving air quality and encouraging more reliable journey times.

“Timed to coincide with our routine works to Poole Bridge, we encourage you to plan ahead, allow extra time for your journeys and consider walking, cycling or utilising the local public transport network.’’
