Residents over the age of 65 are welcomed by the Winton Park Cafe to enjoy a free hot drink, lunch and ‘a real sense of community’.
The volunteer- led cafe is celebrating it’s second anniversary of the initiative “Welcome Wednesday” which runs from 11:30am to 1:30pm.
The event is held on the second Wednesday of every month.
The valued community sessions require no booking, but do have limited places so attendees are encouraged to arrive early.
The monthly fixture not only offers a meal, but also a chance to socialise and build new friendships in a relaxed setting.

The McCarthy & Stone foundation is funding the programme which supports projects that improve the wellbeing of people in later life.
Julia Laister from the foundation said: “Welcome Wednesday is all about creating a sense of belonging”.
“We know that something as simple as sharing a meal and conversation can make a difference to someone’s wellbeing.”
