The 7th May Town council elections for residents of Bournemouth, Broadstone and Poole is coming up quickly and so is the deadline to apply for a free voter ID document.
This election is the chance for residents to elect representatives for the brand-new town councils.
Voters must bring a valid photo ID with them to be eligible to vote. If you have don’t have an accepted form of photo ID, you can apply for a free voter ID (Known as a Voter Authority Certificate).
The deadline for applying for a free voter ID document to vote in-person is 5pm Tuesday 28th April 2026.
To be eligible to vote in this election you must:
- Be a resident at an address in Bournemouth, Broadstone or Poole
- Be registered to vote
- Be over the age of 18
- Be a British or Irish citizen
- not be legally excluded from voting
Polling stations are open from 7am to 10pm on the day of the election.
For those wanting to vote via post, votes must be received by 10pm on Thursday 7th May 2026.
