A warning from police has been issued after a serious crash in Poole left a teenager with life-changing injuries. The two young people involved in the dangerous driving incident were sentenced at Bournemouth Crown Court last week.

Harrison Taylor, 19 was driving a Mercedes A200 along with brother Henry, 21, driving a BMW M135. Both had been travelling with passengers in convoy at speeds of up to 70mph in a 30mph zone.

An investigation from the Serious Collision Investigation Team, found that the Mercedes had struck a gatepost before the BMW collided with the Mercedes on Banks Road in the early hours of 26th December 2023.

The passenger in the Mercedes A200, a 17 year-old girl at the time, was extracted from the car by fire services and taken into hospital with serious injuries.

After admitting offences of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, the brothers appeared in Bournemouth Crown Court last week for sentencing.

Both were sentenced to 18 months in prison, suspended for two years. They were also disqualified from driving for three years.

Sergeant Mike Burt, of the Serious Collision Investigation Team said:  “This incident is a further reminder of the severe consequences that can result if motorists drive in a reckless and dangerous manner.

“The actions of the young drivers that night have left the victim with injuries that will have a life-long physical and mental impact.”
