From little feet to long striders and from toddlers to pensioners – over 300 local people turned out at University Hospitals Dorset NHS Charity Walk For Wards event.

Hundreds of people from families to NHS colleagues filled Upton Country Park and House last Autumn and raised an incredible £21,479.38. With this support Bournemouth, Poole and Christchurch hospitals will be able to fund innovative projects and cutting edge equipment, improving the care and experience for patients and the dedicated NHS teams.

The University Hospital’s Dorset NHS Charity public fundraising officer, Amy Beauchamp commented:

“The energy at Walk for Wards was just amazing this year despite some rough weather leading up to the day. Seeing so many people come out to support University Hospitals Dorset was a powerful reminder of the compassion and kindness that make our communities across Dorset truly special. We are deeply grateful to our sponsors, Hot Radio and Care South, for leading the way with their unwavering support for Walk for Wards . We’d also like to thank everyone who cheered on our Walk for Wards participants. Together, we truly went the extra mile for University Hospitals Dorset!”

Walk for Wards’ gold sponsor, Hot Radio, turned up the volume on their long standing support for the NHS charity with their phenomenal team of ‘Hot Walkers’ composed of Hot Radio staff. Supporters and listeners raised a show-stopping £7,377 for The BEACH Appeal. Along with Hot Radio, the charity is fundraising £1.5 million to enhance the BEACH Building with various additional items, above and beyond NHS funding.

Readers can keep the momentum going by signing up for University Hospital’s Dorset NHS Charity’s March for Men on Saturday 29th March 2025, raising funds for those impacted by prostate cancer.
