NEWS: Kings Award for local ‘HealthBus’

HealthBus has been celebrated in parliament after receiving the King’s Award for Voluntary Service.

The Bournemouth-based charity, was submitted to parliament by new bournemouth MP Tom Hayes during the Early Day Motion (EDM).

HealthBus Chairman Christopher Wakefield says: “What an honour it is to be recognised in this manner.”

“I am delighted that the contribution we are making to individual lives and the wider community is acknowledged in such a distinguished way.” He added.

The award celebrates the charity’s receipt of the prestigious King’s award.

The highest honour for voluntary organisations in the UK.

MoreBus was celebrated in Parliament on the 9th September after receiving the King’s Award for Voluntary service

HealthBus was established in 2016 and delivers specialised healthcare through mobile, GP-led services.

Breaking down barriers that often prevent the homeless from accessing mainstream healthcare.

The EDM highlights the trust’s dedication to addressing health care inequalities.

Tom Hayes MP said: “HealthBus is an example of Bournemouth’s kindness and a force for good in our town.”

 “As a former homelessness service CEO who has spent time with HealthBus service users and support workers, I was proud to ensure this recognition of their achievements in Parliament. Everybody deserves healthcare.” He added.
