A dog theft outside a Tesco store in Poole had a happy ending after the beloved pooch was reunited with its owners. The alleged thief was arrested and is now due to appear in court over the incident.

At around 3:30pm on Friday 23 April, a German Shepard was taken from outside Tesco Express on the Quay. The stolen dog was tracked down and later reunited with its owners after it was found at a Poole address.

Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) David Sidwick has said in a recent interview with BH Living that dog theft was something he was concerned about and confirmed that pet theft was on the rise all over the country.

The PCC of Dorset stated that the theft of a pet can have huge impacts on owners and pledged his commitment to deal with this problem in his Police and Crime Plan. The David Sidwick interview can be found in the current summer edition of BH Living magazine being distributed to households across BCP.

A 35-year old man is due to appear at Poole Magistrates Court on Friday 6 August.
