LOCAL NEWS: Man charged with stealing lead from Bournemouth museum roof

A man has appeared in court in relation to the theft of lead from the roof of the Russell-Cotes Art Gallery and Museum on the East Cliff in Bournemouth. 

The police were contacted on Thursday 13 August 2020 at 2.18am, with reports that a person was on the roof of the popular museum. Officers attended the scene and discovered a large quantity of lead had been stripped from the roof. 

A 21 year-old man, Caleb Ollie Johnson, from Poole was arrested nearby soon afterwards and has now been charged with theft in relation to the incident. He has also been charged with two counts of theft from a shop, although these charges are unrelated. 

On Friday 14 August 2020 he appeared at Poole Magistrates’ Court and will appear at Bournemouth Crown Court on Thursday 24 September 2020.
