LOCAL NEWS: Murder investigation launched in Poole

Police have launched a murder investigation after an alleged stabbing in Poole in which a man has died. 

The police were called to a reported stabbing in Rossmore Road in Poole at 7.36pm on Sunday 9 August 2020 and arrested a 53 year-old man from Poole on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm. A 66 year-old man was taken to hospital by ambulance with stab wounds to the abdomen but unfortunately passed away as a result of his injuries on Monday 10 August.

A murder investigation has now been launched by detectives from the Dorset Police Major Crime Investigation Team. 

A cordon has been placed around the scene while investigators carry out their work, but police have confirmed that members of the local community with any concerns can approach local officers for information. 

Detective Chief Inspector Jez Noyce, from the MCIT said: “A full and thorough investigation is underway to establish the full circumstances of what happened.

“I am keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident and has not already spoken to police or anyone who has important information to assist my enquiries.”

The day before the incident occurred Dorset Police had been in contact with both the suspect and the victim. In view of this, details have been passed to the Independent Office for Police Conduct.
