Dorset Police are investigating an incident that took place at the Horns Inn, West Parley, which resulted in the death of a woman in her 40s.
The ambulance service contacted the police at 3.39pm on Saturday 9 May 2020 after attending the scene to assist two people in need of urgent medical care. A woman in her 40s had reportedly been discovered unconscious at the scene and was taken to Royal Bournemouth Hospital.
Police arrived quickly on the scene and arrested a man in his 40s, who was known to the woman, on suspicion of attempted murder. He was taken to Poole Hospital for for treatment to his arms, which had been injured during the incident.
Sadly, the woman passed away on the morning of Sunday 10 May 2020. Following the woman’s death, the man has now been arrested on suspicion of murder. Next of kin have been notified and are being supported by specially-trained officers.
Dorset Police Detective Chief Inspector Richard Dixey, said: “Our thoughts are of course with the woman who sadly died and her family.
“I would like to stress that the death is being treated as unexplained at this time and we have launched an investigation to establish the full circumstances of what happened. I would urge anyone with information to please contact Dorset Police.
“I am particularly keen to hear from anyone who witnessed any activity in the car park of the Horns Inn on the afternoon of Saturday 9 May 2020 and has not already spoken to police. I would urge anyone who was driving in the area and has dascham fitted to their vehicle to check their footage.”
