LOCAL NEWS: Police Search for Witnesses to Assault in Verwood

Dorset Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward with information about an incident in Potterne Park, Verwood, in which a woman and her son were assaulted. 

The incident took place on Friday 24 April 2020 at around 2:05pm, when a woman and her son were in the park as part of their daily exercise. They were approached by three boys, all riding mountain bikes, who began verbally abusing the woman and her son, and spat on them both.

In light of the spread of the coronavirus, this incident was particularly distressing, and the victims returned home and washed themselves and their clothing thoroughly. 

Police Constable Erin Hill from Dorset Police, said: “This was an  understandably upsetting incident for the victim and her young son and I am keen to speak to those involved to establish the circumstances of what happened. 

“I would urge those involved to come forward, and would urge anyone who witnessed the incident to please get in touch.”
