Staff at Poole Hospital have said a big thank you to everyone who donated chocolate eggs to NHS workers and patients, after receiving hundreds of the confections over the Easter Bank Holiday weekend.

Each year, people run collections to supply Easter eggs to those inside Poole Hospital over the Easter Bank Holiday weekend, but with the UK on lockdown, you might expect there to be fewer donations than normal. In fact, staff were taken aback at the number of donations they received.

Sara Fripp, Fundraising Manager for Poole Hospital, said: “We are always overwhelmed by the support from the local community and would like to thank everyone who made a donation.

“They have been used to benefit younger patients who are in the hospital as well as staff working over the Easter period.”

The generous Easter egg donors included Barclays Head Office, Haskins Garden Centres, Go South Coast and the National Trust.

On top of this, the hospital was especially delighted to received an incredible 60 eggs and 15kg of sweets from local dad Andy Walker and his eight year old son Theo. Speaking about the dedicated duo, Sara added: “We would also like to say thank you to Andy and Theo and all of the individual families that have made donations and, in doing so, have brought a smile to us over Easter.

It shows just how much people appreciate the work the hospital does and we thank everyone who donated for their kindness – it makes a huge difference.”
