LOCAL: Attempted robbery at Tuckton Post Office – man arrested

Following a police CCTV appeal, a man has been arrested in connection with the attempted robbery and theft at a post office in Bournemouth. 

The incident occurred at the Post Office in Tuckton Road at around 6.50 am on Sunday 26 January 2020. A member of staff was approached by a man with his hood up with sunglasses and a scarf covering his face. He then produced a hammer and ordered the member of staff to put money into a bag. 

Following this, the member of staff pressed a panic button and the offender grabbed a pack of beer before exiting the shop without paying. As he left he went in the direction of Iford Lane. 

The offender was not located during a search of the area by investigating officers.

Earlier this week police released issued a CCTV appeal on 4 February, since then a man has been arrested linked with the attempted robbery and theft.
