AFC Bournemouth stars Simon Francis and Lewis Cook visited Pokesdown Primary School to help promote the need for a healthy lifestyle to youngsters.
Year six pupils took part in a workshop run by the club’s Community Sports Trust on the importance of a balanced diet and eating the correct foods,
Club captain Francis and midfielder Cook took part in a Question and Answer session before holding a short quiz in which pupils got the chance to win some fantastic Cherries merchandise, including a t-shirt and a goody bag.
AFC Bournemouth head of community Steve Cuss spoke about the success of the programme, saying:
“It’s all about teaching the children about the diet and the need to maintain an active lifestyle.
“It was great having the two players in attendance…as part of the programme we have looked at the players’ diets and how they exercise and it was important that they were fully able to answer any questions that the children had.”
James Kidner, from sponsor Trethowans, said: “It was fantastic to hear from the guys and I think we were all able to learn something.
“It is a brilliant thing for these two popular players to get out in the community and see some kids who are clearly in love with their local team.”
