We’ve been contacted by a number of residents saying they are having trouble finding out when their Christmas rubbish and recycling collection times are, from the council’s website so we’ve done the leg work for you and compiled a handy table below for you to print and keep.
BCP council won’t be collecting rubbish or recycling on Christmas Day, Boxing Day or New Year’s Day. Instead, catch up collections will be in place from 21 December through to 4th January.

Extra rubbish can be taken to the Household Waste Recycling Centres in:
- Millhams, Longham
- Wilverley Road, Christchurch
- Nuffield Road, Poole
All sites will be closed on Christmas, Boxing and New Year’s Day.
If you plan on composting your Christmas tree, the council won’t be collecting it for you this year. Instead, for a small fee you can arrange for your tree to be collected by local charity Diverse Abilities. See if they are collecting in your area.
Alternatively, you can take your tree to the Household Waste Recycling Centres or Upton Park for composting from Tuesday 24th December to Sunday 12th January.
If you want to dispose of your garden waste in Bournemouth, Christchurch or Poole, you must register for the 2020 service. Otherwise, you can recycle it for free at any Household Waste Recycling Centres. Or, get your own compost bin and recycle at home.
