‘Our Planet Zero Waste’ is set to launch this Saturday amid growing demand in Dorset for waste- and plastic-free shopping.

The company was created by Wimborne-based Laurraine Veal who is passionate about preserving the environment and reducing unnecessary waste and plastic use.

The company will source local and ethical products and provide a convenient service for people who are environmentally conscious. They will also encourage customers to consider using reusable storage solutions to contribute to a greener environment.

Laurraine and her partner Mark plan to travel across Dorset in a special van to sell their eco-friendly products. The eco-van, nicknamed ‘Olive’ has been fitted with reclaimed pallets and second-hand items which would otherwise have ended up in landfill.

The couple plan to sell products such as dried foods, household products and personal care items.

As well as the waste- and plastic-free shopping facility, they will also offer a re-fill service. Customers can bring their own containers to stop them purchasing single-use packaging for products ranging from shampoo to cereals.

Olive will be stopping at locations including Christchurch Market, Hamworthy, Sturminster Marshall, Ferndown, Broadstone and Corfe Mullen. Laurraine is also planning to take her to farmers markets, festivals and local events throughout 2020.

Customers will have the option to buy directly from the van, or place orders online to collect from their HQ in Corfe Mullen.

Laurraine said: “We want to be able to help more people shop the zero-waste way. Over the last ten years we have produced more plastic than during the whole of the last century!

“We know that so many people are frustrated by the lack of zero waste shops in their local communities.

“I knew this was the right time to offer local shoppers an eco-friendly alternative.”
