Talbot Heath School install two new large sculptures.

November 2019 sees the showcase of both an outdoor and indoor sculpture. It takes inspiration from the pioneering aspirations of the Head, Mrs Holloway and is supported by the Governors.

The new art additions titled Surge and Vortex were created by fellow of The Royal Society of Sculptors and international artist Rebecca Newnham. The Bournemouth artist works predominately as a sculptor and designer, focusing on scientific ideas.

new art piece surgeRebecca said: “Surge references each of the STEAM subjects – Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Maths, in an engaging way that illustrates an aspect of each of these important subjects.

“One of my favourite parts of Surge are the hundreds of names engraved by pupils, teachers, the dinner ladies, bus drivers, alumni and Governors, which extend along one side of each of the sculptures.”

Vortex is a glass spiral which makes references to climate change and is intended to create an “immersive” experience. The art pieces can be visited as part of an open event from 2-5pm on 9 November 2019.
