Bournemouth parks and open spaces toasted success again in the South and South East in Bloom Awards.

Both Hengistbury Head and Bournemouth Crematorium and North Cemetery were selected as overall winners in their category.

South and South East in Bloom is part of Britain in Bloom and runs annual competitions to find the best villages, towns, cities, coastal towns, parishes, town and city centres, urban communities and business improvement districts.

Protecting the environment

Bloom is as much about flowers and hanging baskets than it is about protecting the environment, conserving the landscape and promoting good environmental management and care. They also hope to see the community becoming more involved in caring for the different areas around them.

Some award categories were churchyard of the year, village of the year, city of the year, urban community and conservation area of the year.

The awards ceremony was held on 13th September 2019 at the Amex Stadium, Falmer, near Brighton.
