Poole hospital hosted their annual awards evening where more than 280 nominations were made to staff and supporters.
On Friday 13th September 2019 inspirational staff and supporters were recognised for their work at the hospital with members of the catering team, doctors, nurses, fundraisers and volunteers all among the winners.
More than 280 nominations were received from staff, patients and the public in categories recognising innovation, excellence in care, volunteering and fundraising.
The final placings were revealed by guest of honour AFC Bournemouth legend, Steve Fletcher at the prestigious gala evening held at The Italian Villa, Compton Acres.
‘Fletch’ presented the employee of the year award to Dr Naomi Fox who is the hospital’s clinical director for medicine for the elderly, stroke and neurosciences. She was recognised in her nomination for her ‘very open and personable approach’ as well as her ‘genuine concern’ for the mental and physical health of her patients and colleagues.
A special award was made for ‘Outstanding Contribution’ to Yvonne Hunter who is the lead for the hospital’s Surgical Care Group. Yvonne’s nomination read: “Her knowledge of the services that she manages is astounding. I have seen her care and compassion for all staff. Her ability to resolve situations with a calm and professional approach, and her humour and dedication shine.”
The ‘Going the extra mile’ award was presented to the Data Warehouse Team
Other awards went to staff nurse George Wareham who was named the ‘Excellence in patient care’ award winner.
The Volunteers Wayfinding Team were awarded ‘Volunteer of the year’.
David Moss, chairman, thanked local engineering firm Meggitt who’s 20-year support for the awards ended after this year’s event.
David said: “The evening was a great opportunity to celebrate everyone who helps make Poole Hospital successful. I’d like to offer my thanks to everyone who took the time to nominate an individual or a team.”
