LOCAL NEWS: Bournemouth Parks win Tree Service award

0

Bournemouth Parks Arboriculture Woodland Team has won the Horticulture Week Custodian Award for Tree Service of the Year.

Their work has helped Bournemouth achieve Green Flag status in 19 sites across the borough.

There is a total of 20 woodland sites in Bournemouth, 17 of which are funded through the Forestry Commission’s Woodland Grant Scheme.

This scheme helps the Parks team foster better understanding of trees in the community.

They provide tree walks and produce the Tree Trail Leaflet identifying 20 trees in the Central Gardens, which is available free from the Bournemouth tourism office.

AWT’s creation of the Tree Works Request Form now means people can request work to be done on Council owned trees, encouraging community engagement with local parks.

Supporting the Borough’s biomass generator has provided income for the team, as well as lowering their environmental footprint – this is one of a number of environmental initiatives they have worked on.
