Essential structural repair is set to begin on the south-facing wall of the auditorium at the Regent Centre in Christchurch.

The repairs will take place between 17 June and mid-September.

As a result of this, during the working day the Regent will only be showing films and holding live events after 5pm between the work dates.

Events will run as per the normal schedule on weekends.

Felicity Porter, Regent Centre General Manager said: “We are all really looking forward to the successful completion of the essential repairs to the South facing wall of the Auditorium, which will ensure the future of the Regent for the community for many years to come.”

In late September the Regent plans to reopen with a bang, presenting The Gondoliers, by the Christchurch Gilbert and Sullivan Society on the 26th and the popular Last Night of the Proms on 29 September.
