Final phase of £1.7m flood defence work begins on Poole Quay

Work has started on the third and final stage of a £1.7m collaboration agreement between Poole Harbour Commissioners (PHC) and the Environment Agency (EA), to upgrade Poole Quay’s existing flood defences.

Key facts:

  • 375m of quay wall will be updated
  • The works are due to be completed in May 2019
  • Over 260 properties in the area will benefit from an increased level of tidal flood protection
  • Other improvements include the installation of new sheet piled walls, concrete parapet walls, raised surfacing and associated drainage works, as well as the replacement of timber fenders.
