According to recent research Chinese food is the most popular cuisine for us Brits, so it is no surprise to see that Bournemouth’s hottest new restaurant is celebrating the incredible food and heritage associated with China.
Situated in the heart of Bournemouth on Beacon Road, just a short walk away from the award-winning sandy beaches is 1805. The name of the restaurant marks the year that the first Chinese man became an established British citizen, a significant moment in history and a move so rare it required an Act of Parliament.
This large and airy restaurant effortlessly fuses traditional and contemporary Chinese culture showcasing historical artefacts alongside stylish hand-crafted furniture. There is even a traditional carriage in the reception area!
The restaurant opened on Sunday 22 July with a VIP launch organised by the award-winning Sunny Bird PR and included guests such as The Mayor and Mayoress of Bournemouth Cllr Derek Borthwick and Mrs Dorothy Borthwick, AFC Bournemouth Chairman Jeff Mostyn and his wife Rose, ex Bournemouth FC footballing legend Steve Fletcher, Venus Awards founder Tara Howard, restauranteur and award-winning chef Sarah Ali Choudhury amongst others.
The VIP launch featured a spectacular lion dance which is said to bring good luck and fortune and guests were treated to bespoke cocktails and an exquisite meal which included Chinese baby pak choi with garlic sauce, beef fillets with asparagus in XO sauce and steamed seabass.
Andy Liu, general manager of 1805, said: “We’re really looking forward to welcoming customers to all that 1805 has to offer and providing them with a first-class service. The food is creative, authentic and incredibly appetising.
“We are ideally located to host all kinds of events whether it be a romantic evening, a gathering for the whole family, drinks with friends, or a more formal meeting. Guests will have an unforgettable experience.”
