As Lighthouse, Poole’s Centre for the Arts celebrates its 40th year, popular children’s TV presenter Chris Jarvis has been unveiled as the star of this year’s pantomime, Dick Whittington.
As well as playing the lead, Chris will also direct and co-write the panto with actor Peter Duncan.
Chris made his name presenting the ‘Broom Cupboard’ in the early 90s on Children’s BBC, and has since written and presented many programmes for youngsters. He was also part of the original line-up of CBeebies presenters and currently stars with Pui Fan Lee on CBeebies’ Show Me Show Me. He is likely to join in with Blue Peter’s 60th celebrations later this year alongside Peter, who is a former presenter of the show.
On his return to panto, Chris says, “It’s a huge thrill to be back in Dorset for pantomime at the wonderful Lighthouse and in such great company! We’re pulling out all the stops for the 40th anniversary to bring you a fabulous comedy panto for absolutely everyone to laugh, boo, cheer and join in with”.
Elspeth McBain, CEO for Lighthouse adds: “We are very pleased indeed that local panto legend Chris Jarvis will be part of the our pantomime company this year. We are looking forward to working with him to bring our audiences another fabulous production for Christmas”.
Dick Whittington promises Christmas fun for all the family and runs at Lighthouse from Friday 7th to Monday 31st December.
