Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra are inviting local residents to discover the delights of modern classic stories; The Gruffalo and Room on the Broom on Sunday 20 May at 3:30pm at Bournemouth Pavilion. The award winning animation The Gruffalo and Academy Award nominated Room on the Broom, played by the BSO under conductor Terry Davies, will truly bring these enchanting stories to life before your very eyes.

Based on the books by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler, the first half will be the screening of the 2009 TV film The Gruffalo, telling the tale of a little mouse avoiding the fate of being eaten by big, scary predators in his pursuit of a nut. This will be followed by the ever popular 2012 TV film Room on the Broom, which tells the story of a kind witch who allows an unanticipated number of animals to squeeze onto her broomstick. The star-studded cast includes James Corden, Helena Bonham Carter and David Walliams. The enchanting scores by René Aubry, perfectly capture each of the well-known characters and, combined with the entrancing animations and verse, are bound to make your imagination fizzle.

An experience where the music is within reach, adds an extra dimension to the fantastical world where you can find the creature with the “terrible tusks, and terrible claws, and terrible teeth in his terrible jaws”. So hop on board their broom to have a musical feast with The Gruffalo.
