Motown, disco and ragtime jazz will provide the soundtrack to Poole’s Summer Breeze finale as the last evening of fabulous free live music, entertainment and fireworks takes place on Thursday 25 August from 7pm on Poole Quay.
Sponsored by Breeze Volkswagen, the final week sees an evening of vintage soul, Motown and R & B from Craig Alexander and the Zephyrs, supported by Mr Kyps. There’s 1920’s and 30’s hot blues, ragtime and jazz from the FB Pocket Orchestra, traditional sea shanties from the Wareham Whalers, plus funk soul and disco with The Goodfoot Band at the Custom House.
As part of Wave 105’s Summertime in the South, the free event has taken place every Thursday evening in August and brought a party atmosphere to Poole’s continental quayside with a firework finale at 10pm over the largest natural harbour in Europe.
With dazzling fire shows, Covent Garden style street entertainers, bouncy castle and Jamie Jigsaw’s circus workshop there’s plenty to keep all the family entertained throughout the night. During the event Poole Museum is open to the public until 9.30pm. With free entry, find out about Poole’s rich history. The event concludes with a firework finale over Poole Harbour at 10pm.
Graham Richardson, Poole Tourism Manager, said;
“Summer Breeze is the jewel in the crown of Poole’s fabulous special events programme. It makes the most of the town’s fantastic location and is a real draw for visitors. The feedback we get is that people can’t believe such fantastic events are happening for free week in week out and we are exceptionally lucky to have the support of local businesses so we can deliver such a diverse and exciting mix of free events. I’d like to say a massive thank you to Breeze Volkswagen and the many Poole Quay businesses for their continued backing.”
