NEWS: Police appeal after man beaten with bicycle chain

A man was assaulted by three other men in Bournemouth Triangle, police have issued an image of a man they need help identifying in relation to the assault. 

The incident was reported shortly after 2pm on Friday 23 January 2026. A man aged in his 40s was approached by three other men on Avenue Lane in the area of The Triangle. He was reportedly punched, kicked and struck with a bicycle chain.

Police Staff Investigator Aimee Saunders, of the Bournemouth Volume Crime Team, said: “Fortunately the victim did not suffer any serious injuries as a result of this incident.”

A 32-year-old local man was arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and affray and released on police bail pending further enquiries. Another local man, aged-33, was arrested on suspicion of assault by beating and was released under investigation.

Investigator Saunders said: “We are continuing to carry out enquiries and I am issuing images of a man we would still like to identify in connection with this matter. I would urge anyone who recognises him to please contact us.”
