LOCAL NEWS: Join Prama’s 40 items in 40 days challenge

In an unusual twist on the period of Lent, Prama is asking that this year, everyone gives up 40 of their unwanted or unused belongings between now and Easter Sunday.

Lent is a period in the Christian calendar between Pancake Day and Easter, when Christians fast or give something up for 40 days until the arrival of Easter Sunday.

While we nurse away our pancake-hangovers and consider trying to give up chocolate for the fourth year running, Prama’s 40 Days, 40 Items challenge invites you instead to find 40 items inside your home that are either unwanted, neglected or otherwise in the way and donate them to one of Prama’s charity shops.

Sales from the seven local Prama shops help fund PramaLife’s many clubs, groups and activities aimed at older people and carers across Dorset, so the more people join the initiative, the bigger the benefits will be for those who rely on their services.

Chris Wakefield, fundraiser for the Prama Foundation, said “PramaLife now manages over 55 clubs, groups and activities across Dorset – working with over 2,078 people who attend these activities each month – providing hope, a sense of community and purpose. We are grateful for those taking part in this challenge.”

If you take part in the initiative, don’t forget to share photos of the items you’re donating with Prama on social media, where they plan to post regular updates over the next 40 days.
