Hundreds of school children will get their first taste of large-scale live music when the National Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain play a special matinee show for them this Friday.
Children from Poole, Bournemouth and Christchurch are in for a treat as the band of twenty perform for them at Lighthouse, Poole’s centre for the Arts.

The capacity show is the result of the on-going partnership between Lighthouse and SoundStorm, BCP’s Music Education agency that provides free music tuition in-class to primary school age children across the conurbation as part of its First Access programme.
“This is the third time the Ukulele Orchestra has agreed to play a special matinee for us – the response has been overwhelming with tickets snapped up in just 72 hours,” says SoundStorm director Dan Somogyi.
Almost 1500 pupils, half of whom are learning the ukulele, from 16 primary schools across the conurbation will see the Orchestra play a special 45-minute show in the Concert Hall.
In the last year SoundStorm engaged some 16,000 BCP children through its Live and Inspired programme, plus many more through its other Music Education Hub programmes, funded by Department for Education and Arts Council England.
