LOCAL NEWS: Local woman killed by fallen tree

A local lady in her 60s was killed after her a falling tree collided with her car during hurricane winds on 2 November.

Dorset Police were called at 8.41am to a report about the incident between the tree and a grey Ford B-max between the Alderholt turning and the A31. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene after her car was crushed by the heavy object and her next of kin has been informed.

The Met Office had enforced a weather warning from 4am and 6pm on the day of the collision due to heavy rain and strong winds expected to arrive in Dorset. Damage was caused to property and transport was disrupted across several parts of the UK with winds exceeding speeds of 80mph.

Police Sergeant Lee Savage, of the traffic unit, said: “We have specially-trained officers supporting the family at this difficult time.

“To assist with my investigation, I am appealing to anyone who was travelling in the area at the relevant time and either witnessed the collision or captured any of the incident on dashcam to please contact Dorset Police.”
