LOCAL NEWS: Hundreds take to streets locally for climate strike

Protesters took to the streets in Bournemouth and Poole on Friday to take part in a nation-wide climate strike.

The strikes were called to demand action during what is described as a ‘time of a global climate change crisis’.

Hundreds of people gathered at 11am in Bournemouth Square and Poole Civic Centre to show their support.

Students, teachers and businesses took part in the strikes organised by UK Student Climate Network, Youth Strike 4 Climate and Poole Climate Campaigners.

High street store Lush closed not only their store in Bournemouth town centre but also shut down their website in order to show solidarity with the students and children behind the cause.

Here’s what was on their website:

Millions of protesters were taking part all over the country in cities such as Manchester, Liverpool and London.
