Dozens of quick stepping couples practised their char-char-char at a Broadstone tea dance.

The ‘Shall We Dance’ trio lead the couples in a waltz around Broadstone War Memorial Hall.

The free event was hosted by Lesley Shand funeral service, part of Douch Family Funeral Directors.

Emma Regan from Douch Family Funeral Directors said: “We had almost 50 people come for this inaugural event.

“We will be holding them monthly and those who are carers can come for free thanks to the Leonardo Trust.

“We put on tea and homemade cakes and everyone had a great time being led by Shall We Dance.

“Tea dancing is coming back thanks to the interest generated by Strictly Come Dancing.”

Future events

The event was run in partnership with Stepping Stones Dementia Friends, Leonardo Trust and Shall We Dance.

Shall We Dance is a local dance school.

Future tea dancing events will incur a small charge.

Leonardo Trust, a charity that supports voluntary carers, will potentially subsidise costs for carers.
