NEWTOWN & HEATHERLANDS: Millie Earl – Liberal Democrats

0

Over the years, I’ve been immensely proud to work alongside local people campaigning on issues such as retaining Poole’s A&E, tackling Anti-Social Behaviour, fighting for a Plastic-Free Poole, improving our play parks and green spaces and championing our local services.

Seeing the impact of waste on our environment, I set up Ashley Road Win On Waste, a community recycling project that collects waste items from local households and uses them to raise funds for other local charities and community groups. Beyond environmental issues, I’m concerned about local housing shortages, Conservative cuts to education funding and the state of politics. I’ve voluntarily worked on campaigns to encourage young people to register to vote and engage in local and national politics and hope to bring my fresh perspective to local government and be a strong voice for my community.

I’ve been out knocking on doors with my Lib Dem ward colleagues Marion Le Poidevin and Mark Robson. These are some of the things local people have raised with us. We’ll be working hard on each and every one of them:

  • Residents are fed up with the state of our roads and pavements. We will prioritise the basic council services to keep our local area free from potholes, fly-tipping and litter and work to make our roads and pavements safe for pedestrians, cyclists and drivers.
  • Local people want to see action on crime in our neighbourhoods. We will work with residents, council officers and police to find sustainable solutions to enforce speed limits and reduce anti-social behaviour so people can feel safe in our community.
  • We are passionate about our green spaces and want to see protection for the environment prioritised under the new council. We will continue our fight for a plastic free coastline and a ban on fracking so we have a cleaner, greener local area.
  • We will fight for investment in our local area and policies that support local businesses, community groups and individuals. Our commitment is to the local area and we want to see our local community thrive.
