REVIEW: Loveable Bridget Jones is back

0

This is what we’ve all been waiting for- the return of the brilliant Bridget Jones. First hitting the big screen in 2001, it’s been a while since we’ve seen her making a complete fool of herself for our entertainment. But oh my was this worth the wait!

Bridget Jones’ Baby sees Jones, played by Renée Zellweger, single and expecting. The only trouble is she doesn’t know who the baby daddy is! It’s a comedic battle between the returning Mark Darcy (Colin Firth) and new American ‘Mr Dreamy’ Jack (Patrick Dempsey) to gain Bridget’s attention.

The film follows a similar formulae to the previous hits, Bridget much the same and, with the exception of Hugh Grant the return of familiar faces. With new editions to the line-up to boot, this movie is absolutely hilarious, we never stopped laughing. From Emma Thompson’s fantastic one-liners, as Bridget’s doctor, to Sarah Solemai’s supreme comedic timing as Jones’ 30 something work friend; the audience was in constant fits. It’s certainly a hit for everyone! Plus with Ed Sheeran making a cameo appearance, what more could you want?

Renée excels once again as the iconic Bridget and the only remaining question is who her baby daddy will be?
