A Bournemouth man is now behind bars after being found guilty of possession of class A drugs.

Rico Walker was stopped by officers on the street and was in possession of cocaine and heroin.

When the 45-year-old was stopped by officers on Thursday 23 February 2023 after leaving his address in Sea Road, he was found to have a number of class A drugs hiding in the gloves he was wearing. Officers followed this up with a search of his property which led to even more drugs being found. The crack cocaine and heroin found in his property had an estimated total value of £15,000.

Sergeant David Carmichael, of Bournemouth police, said: “We are committed to acting on information we receive and bringing those involved in the supply of drugs to justice.”

Following the search and a thorough investigation, Walker was charged with possessing class A drugs with intent to supply. Sergeant Carmichael underlined the police’s efforts to stamp out drug use and drug dealing within the local community saying that it was ultimately the communities that suffered: “the supply of illegal drugs and related activity can have a significant detrimental impact on the local community.”

Walker admitted the offences and was sentenced almost three years later on Friday 23 January 2026 to four years in prison.

Sergeant Carmichael said : “I urge anyone with information relating to suspected drug related activity in their area to please contact us online or by calling 101. If a crime is in progress, always dial 999.”
