A police officer was injured at the weekend after a disturbance on Bournemouth Beach near The Pier. At around 6pm on Saturday 21st June, a large group of people had gathered on the beach and a fight broke out.
A male teenager was seen being assaulted by a group of people so police officers who were on patrol in the area intervened to separate those who were involved. As they were doing so, a gloss bottle was thrown from a large crowd that had gathered which struck the officer on the side of their head causing a painful injury.
The individual who was being assaulted was safely escorted away from the scene, and police remained to ensure there was no further disorder.
Police Constable Jo Morgan, of the Bournemouth Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “We are continuing to conduct enquiries into this incident, and I am keen to hear from anyone with information that might assist our investigation.
“In particular, there were a number of people in the area who appeared to be filming on their mobile phones, and I would urge anyone with relevant footage to please contact us.”
