LEISURE: Arts By the Sea Festival’s 10th anniversary – now also available online

0

The pandemic has laid waste to most events this year but Bournemouth’s Arts by the Sea Festival is adapting their programme to make sure there’s something available for everyone, by providing an online events programme.

The festival, celebrating its tenth year, is continuing to offer a number of live, in-person events, for which tickets are available in restricted numbers, to allow for social distancing. However, in order to improve their offering and account for those unable to purchase a ticket or leave their home, the new online programme will provide a variety of cultural entertainment with the click of a mouse.

Running from Friday 25 September to Sunday 4 October 2020, the events on offer cater to every age group and interest, with a series of workshops ranging from dance and improvisational music to storytelling, podcasts and archive footage of some of their most popular performances from previous festivals. There will even be an immersive bubble show ‘Introduction to Bubbleology’, provided by Squidge & Pop, for the amusement of children (and, undoubtedly, many adults).

For those aspiring to a career in the outdoor arts, the festival has partnered with Emergency Exit Arts to offer a Trainee Producers Scheme for anyone aged 18-25. Sign up now via the festival website

BCP Council and Arts by the Sea organisers have worked hard to make the live events safe for those wishing to attend in-person, which include large-scale fire and light installations, film screenings, interactive community projects, immersive sound experiences, and more.
