LEISURE: Bournemouth Oceanarium half term workshops

0

This half term the Oceanarium is leading workshops on how to turn beach litter into a handmade card.

The Oceanarium organises daily beach cleans in collaborating with The Two Minute Foundation. During these beach cleans they collect debris and litter and have gather 10kg of rubbish this year.  After thoroughly cleaning this rubbish it is then used in the workshops to make cards.

Education Host, Molly, said: “After seeing so much debris and litter that had been washed up on Bournemouth Beach from all the stormy weather we have seen this year, we wanted to see how we could repurpose the rubbish collected and to create something that brings people together while showcasing the impact of our conservation work.”

Their hope is this activity highlights how small, positive actions can make a meaningful difference to our oceans. By turning waste into something thoughtful and personal, visitors not only take home something for their loved one but also gain a deeper understanding of conservation and the importance of reducing litter in our seas.

The workshop is free and will run daily from the 14th of February to the 22nd of February. The Oceanarium is also having visitors pant rocks for their loved one and have it displayed in either the penguin or otter exhibit.
