A National gun amnesty has been announced for five types of BRUNI-manufactured blank firers.

Following testing by the National Crime Agency and policing, the five types of firearm are now illegal to possess. The amnesty is running for four weeks, until Friday 27 February 2026. Anyone in possession of one of the specified TVBFs could face prosecution and up to 10 years imprisonment.

The following BRUNI models have been tested and are illegal:

  • 8mm PAK Bruni BBM Model 92 blank firing self-loading pistol.
  • 8mm PAK Bruni BBM New Police blank firing self-loading pistol.
  • 8mm PAK Bruni BBM Model 96 blank firing self-loading pistol.
  • 8mm PAK Bruni BBM Model ‘GAP’ blank firing self-loading pistol.
  • .380R (9mmK) PAK Bruni BBM ME Ranger single-action blank firing revolver.

The firearm legislation hasn’t changed – the BRUNI manufactured TVBFs are illegal to own under the Firearms Act 1968. This amnesty gives holders a chance to dispose of their TVBFs safely. Take the TVBF to an enquiry office at a police station and hand it in. Holders will not face prosecution for illegal possession and can remain anonymous.

However, any history of live firearms handed in will be checked for evidence and other unwanted, unlicensed firearms and ammunition may be surrendered to police at any time. This will avoid risk of becoming involved in criminality and the firearm will be disposed safely.

Dorset police are supporting the amnesty with Chief Inspector Dave Horn saying: “We will not tolerate any activity involving illegal firearms and that is why we are supporting this national amnesty.”

if you know anyone involved in illegal firearms activity, contact the police. Alternatively, Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously on 0800 555 111.
