A significant £1.8m investment into Two Riversmeet Leisure Centre has been proposed to BCP Council.
The plans highlight the desire to extend the award-winning leisure centre in Christchurch and create two new purpose-built studios. The plans hope to improve long term health and well being in Dorset.
It is also hoped that the extension will make Two Riversmeet Leisure Centre a social hub for locals, boost membership and ensure that the centre will continue to serve the community in the future.
The leisure centre already provides facilities such as swimming pools, fitness classes, 3G pitches, squash courts, a skatepark and gym but will be sure to attract more locals to the leisure centre.
Cllr Richard Herrett, Portfolio Holder for destination, leisure and commercial operations at BCP Council said: “Two Riversmeet is already a fantastic example of how locally managed services meet community needs- helping connect people and encouraging active, healthy lifestyles.”
He added: “These proposals would allow us to go even further and are a significant investment in Christchurch and the health and happiness of our residents.”
Councillor’s will discuss the proposal on January 14th at the BCP Council cabinet meeting with the hopes of the centre’s expansion to be completed by July 2027.
