ENVIRONMENT: New hydrogen energy plant to launch in Dorset this year.

A new green hydrogen energy plant has been announced and is set to be the first of it’s kind in the South West.

The new Dorset Green H2 facility will focus on only using renewable energy such as solar power and landfill gases produced on-site to create the clean, zero-emission fuel known as green hydrogen. This will be unlike other hydrogen power projects, many of which may use depleting fossil fuels and release emissions into the atmosphere.

Canford Renewable Energy is leading this project and set it’s base at Canford Resource Park in Poole, it is expected to be up and running later this year if all goes well. The plant is being funded by the Growing Places Fund loan scheme which has provided £3 million alongside a £1.5 million grant from Low Carbon Dorset, a £1.7m loan from NatWest and equity funding from Canford Renewable Energy itself.
