NEWS: Local estate agent to give £100 from every sale to mental health charity

A collaboration between Dorset Mind and Meyers Estate Agents has brought support towards mental health with the company giving £100 for every successful property sold in the BH31 postcode for a whole year.

Dorset Mind has provided The Verwood Wellbeing Support Group to offer help to anyone aged 11 and up who wants to look after their mental health and recover from issues that might be staying with them and affecting their everyday lives. The group handles meetings online currently until they can resume face-to-face group meetings next year.

Patrick Hester of Meyers Estate Agents explains:

“As estate agents we work in the heart of our community and at Meyers we have raised money for numerous local charities over the years, aiming to give something back to those that support us. Mental health issues affect so many people – including people close to me – and the isolation following COVID-19 has exacerbated the issue. It’s time to become more aware of mental health by getting people talking. The Dorset Mind Verwood Wellbeing Support Group does just that by helping individuals connect and relate.

Since the support group is currently ‘unfunded’ the only money they receive to pay for the costs of their facilities and resources is through donations with fundraisers, this means that the attention and money donated by Meyers Estate Agents will help spread awareness and keep the support for mental health available.

Marianne Storey, CEO, Dorset Mind confirms how this partnership will help them break the negative views around receiving help for mental health:

“We’re delighted to welcome another branch of Meyers Estates to our stable of valued charity partners. It’s important for us to work with local organisations that share our vision – and want to visibly help us support mental health of people in Dorset. It not only helps create awareness of mental wellbeing – but it also tackles the stigma around it too.
