HOMELESSNESS: Local charity appeals for warm clothes for winter

0

Winter is here and while many of us are looking forward to a cosy Christmas indoors with family, many of the less fortunate are already struggling to keep warm in the decreasing temperatures. So local charities are asking anyone who can spare some warm clothes to pay a visit.

The Homelessness Partnership is a charity that works with the homeless population and works with volunteers and donations to improve their conditions and prevent rough-sleeping, especially in harsher conditions such as around the winter season.

Donations of warm clothes that you can spare will be enough to make a difference, if you would like to help then there are multiple drop off points around BCP.

Donations of clean clothes and shoes (for men and women) can be dropped off at:

  • Hope & More 171 Seabourne Rd, Bournemouth BH5 2HH (Tuesday-Saturday 9.30am-5.30pm)
  • Hope Housing St Swithuns Road, Bournemouth BH1 3RQ
  • SSAFA shop 23 Church Rd, Parkstone, Poole BH14 8UF

Donations of toiletries, new underwear and socks (for men and women), can be dropped off at:

  • Half-time Westover Road, Bournemouth BH1 2BZ (Monday, Wednesday or Friday mornings)
  • Routes to Roots c/o Skinner Street United Reformed Church, 5 Skinner St, Poole BH15 1RQ (Monday-Friday lunchtime)
  • Christchurch Foodbank+ St Joseph’s church, 67 Purewell BH23 1EH (Monday & Tuesday 10am-12, Thursday 11am -1pm, Friday 2pm-4pm)

If you can’t donate any clothes but still would like to help out, you can donate money by visiting Change for Good, a project set up by the Homelessness Partnership with Dorset Community Foundation. Local charities will be able to apply for funds from here to help people away from sleeping on the street.
