Poole Park Railway finally sees work start towards reopening the park, the plan is to have it up and running again for 2022.

The first week of December has marked the start of the Poole Park Railway works done by the Shropshire based Track Systems. The park has been a feature since 1949 and become well-loved in the community but was then closed in 2018 while improvements were made, such as a new engine shed and replacing rails.

Councillor Mark Anderson, Portfolio Holder for Environment, Cleansing and Waste, said:

“Rejuvenating Poole is a key priority of us and bringing the railway back on track reinforces this commitment. It is a special asset, which has been a feature since 1949, and I’m so pleased that we will soon see it back in action.”

The run up to Christmas is planned to focus on the demolition and removal of the old engine shed and the current tracks, work will continue through the winter with the new shed and rails being installed, it is believed to be finished sometime after April of 2022.
