NEWS: Convicted drug dealer used children to pedal drugs

A Bournemouth man has been jailed for 4 years and 3 months for the supply of class A and Class B drugs and money laundering.

A 21-year old man named Kai Chalwell has been sentenced to 40 months in prison for the offences committed and was then given a further 11 months as a result of breaching a previous suspended sentence. 

The man had been arrested on four occasions between March 2020 and March 2021, during some of these arrests and searches of his home on Gervis Road the police seized £3,420 of cash, a number of mobile phones and in the most recent search a supply of Class A drugs were found. 

The evidence found linked Chalwell to the supply of controlled drugs and recovered conversations revealed that he used children as young as 14-years old to help distribute to the local area. One conversation with a 16-year-old had Chalwell direct the boy to a stash site and then sent him details of customers who would be attending.

The police have taken Chalwell’s use of children into account alongside his other listed offences which he pleaded guilty to on Thursday 6 May at Bournemouth Crown Court. Finally, on Wednesday 8 September, Chalwell was was sentenced to 40 months in prison for the offences committed and was then given a further 11 months as a result of breaching his previous suspended sentence.
