LOCAL NEWS: “Have your say on tackling crime in BCP” says Police Commissioner

The new Police and Crime Commissioner for Dorset, David Sidwick, is asking members of the public to fill out a survey to understand their views on crime in Dorset.

The results of the survey will be used to assist the development of the new Police and Crime Plan and make the county safer for everyone.

The Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) is in charge of managing the relations between the local police and the public, this means that he must understand the public view of the police and crime in the county. The Police and Crime Plan is set up by the PCC to organise how the police develops and responds to incidents with crime and the public in the future, this can include which incidents are prioritised and how much of the police resources are used.

David Sidwick has mentioned in a recent interview with BH Living that he is currently working on his Police and Crime Plan and that he wants to improve the public relations with the police by having more officers out on the streets, to make the public feel safe and protected, than being behind a desk filling out paperwork for hours. More information about this can be found in the summer BH Living magazine’s David Sidwick interview.
