LEISURE: The Super-Spies are back and they need your help!

Is your child super-observant, enthusiastic and looking for a little excitement? If so then Lighthouse, Poole’s Super-Spies could be just the ticket, with adventures taking place over Zoom on Wednesday 10 June and Sunday 14 June 2020.

The Marvellous Mirabel Merryweather, the newly initiated Claude Pringle and all the Super-Spies team are under lockdown, just like the rest of us, but they’ve been receiving reports that agents from The Vortex – their rival spy gang – have begun luring new spies to the dark side in Poole. Their evil plan? To sabotage every bit of goodwill and positivity in the community. The only way to stop them is for Super-Spies to form a team of young sleuths aged 5-10, brush up their skills in espionage and help solve the clues that will stamp out The Vortex once and for all!

The team are welcoming new recruits as well as anyone who’s met them on their tours of local libraries. All you need is a reliable internet connection with access to Zoom (preferably via laptop), the ability to commit to both Zoom meetings, and the enthusiasm it takes to see good triumph over evil.

For the parents:

This live event is aimed at all children aged between 5 and 10 years. The sessions will last 20-30 minutes each with Dorset-based Angel Exit Theatre, and will take place over a private, secure Zoom meeting. There is an optional trail based around Poole but families can participate from their own homes with a series of spy-themed challenges and activities. All children must be accompanied by at least one adult but families are welcome to join as a whole.

The event is free but limited to 17 households so please only book if you’re absolutely certain you can attend both sessions, to avoid disappointing others unnecessarily.

Tamsin Fessey, co-artistic director of Angel Exit, said: “We are delighted to offer Poole audiences an exclusive theatrical experience, which we hope will start online with our Zoom meeting but expand into a series of fun, madcap activities around the home and maybe in the local community.

“A welcome break from home schooling maybe, and a collective experience bringing a live audience together. We’re really interested in finding ways to use Zoom to create live experiences and although we can’t wait to get back into theatres with our audiences, until that can happen we want to bring some theatrical magic into people’s homes.”
