TRANSPORT: How to clean your car to reduce spread of COVID-19

0

The UK is currently in lockdown, meaning everyone should be social distancing and staying at home if they can.

However, if you have to make an essential journey, there is now a way to clean your car to reduce the risk of spreading the coronavirus.

The RAC have produced a car cleaning checklist with all the parts of your vehicle that you should clean as well as what you’ll need to clean them.

Before cleaning, if possible, people are advised to wait 3 days, or 72 hours since they last used their car, in order to reduce the initial risk of coronavirus.

The list then recommends you use disposable gloves and an apron as well as goggles and a mask to protect your eyes nose and mouth.

RAC recommends using bleach-free household disinfectant, with the cleaning checklist including: Driver’s seat; dashboard; all other seats; roof and doors; boot as well as other parts of the car.

To see the full car cleaning checklist as well as advice on how to clean the outside of your car, you can visit RAC’s website.
