It may be cold and wet outside, but step inside The Mayflower Theatre and it couldn’t be sunnier.

Mamma Mia! is running at the Mayflower until February 29th and was the perfect tonic to a chilly gloomy February.

Set on a Greek Island and featuring the best of Abba’ hits, theatre-goers would be hard-pressed to find a more uplifting musical.

The cult classic first launched in April 1999 and is still wowing fans around the world over 20 years later and still plays to packed houses. Tonight was no exception with a sell-out crowd at The Mayflower.

Just like the hugely successful movie, the famous musical tells the story of a hardworking single mum Donna Sheridan and her bubbly and full-of-life daughter Sophie who is about to be wed.

Sophie played amazingly by Emma Mullen, has three potential fathers and hopes to find her true dad so he can walk her down the aisle.

Everyone on stage is full of joy, fun, likeable and vocally talented, the choreography was outstanding with a wonderful stage set, the costumes were out of this world a lot of effort and time has gone into making them.

One of the biggest attractions of this show is, of course, the soundtrack of Abba hits played beautifully by the amazing live orchestra. Songs such as Waterloo, Does Your Mother Know, Super Trouper and of course, Mama Mia and the cast do it amazing.

And the bouncing finale, of course, had everyone on their feet, dancing to the timeless and iconic classics – Dancing Queen and Mamma Mia.

The music, fun and belly laughs all made for a fantastic night’s theatre and the audience enjoyed every moment.

An absolute must-see for all music lovers! 5* performance and recommended for all the family to see and enjoy.

Mamma Mia! is at The Mayflower Theatre until Saturday 29th February. Showtimes are at 2 pm and 7:30 pm.

Tickets from £29.50 can be bought from the Mayflower Box Office or book online here.
