LOCAL NEWS: Campaign to reduce homelessness launches

A campaign designed to support tenants and reduce homelessness is launching at the Sovereign Centre.

The campaign is a collaborative effort between BCP Council and eight other organisations, including Citizens Advice, Shelter, local job centres and Faithworks Wessex.

The launch of the campaign on 13 January will see all of the organisations in the Sovereign Centre, Boscombe, between 2.30-7pm to answer questions and offer support to anyone who may be struggling with any aspect of their tenancy.

A range of other drop-in events are being held across the week of 13-17 January, covering issues from tenancy questions, water bills and Universal Credit.

Councillor Vikki Slade, Leader of BCP Council, said: “Preventing homelessness is a huge priority for the Council, and I’m really hopeful that the campaign can help people who are at risk of being evicted, and therefore reduce the number of people experiencing homelessness across the area.”
